  Buffett 1167
Buffett is a great watch dog. He is crate-trained, housebroken and uses a dog-door.  He tends to be rather stand-offish and only comes for cuddling when it's mealtime but he will be devoted to his person.   He needs a lot of patience, but did amazingly well in his beginning obedience class. His new owner will need to be the alpha and to continue with his training and socialization.  It is best to keep him on a leash whenever new people are around, and we recommend he not go to a home where he will encounter children, either living there or visiting. Because he is so very protective of his person, he gets extremely agitated when noise is made, even in fun. He is great with women but wary of most men.  He seems not to like hats, facial hair, etc. honestly there are times when he seems not to recognize me when I have my glasses on my head!!  He rides calmly in the car, however he gets motion sick after about a half of an hour, and his foster mom has not yet found anything to help hi...read more about Buffett 1167
  Hazel 1202
Hazel is a beautiful girl with a Collie-like head.  She will make you laugh every day with her exuberance.  She wiggles and has the biggest smile on her face 24/7 and also wants to be with you 24/7, but she has her quiet moments, too.  She definitely wants to please her people and because of her youth and energy, that needs to be considered by her adoptive family in order to keep her happy . She loves exercise, walking and playing. If you look her in the eye.. she turns her head as if to say, with a coy look back.. are you “really” talking to me?  She then smiles so cutely, you can’t help but hug her.  Hazel needs to be with a family that understands the balance of her coyness and energy.  Hazel will come on command and happily gives you that big sweet smile of hers.  Hazel can be "mouthy," so we will not place her with children under the age of 10.  While she gets along with other dogs, we think a home without any cats would be best.  She...read more about Hazel 1202
  Buddy1226
Buddy is a sweet high energy boy.  The problem is he was born with bad hips.  Right now he needs surgery to help him live a pain free life.  I wish each of you could meet him bevause he is so sweet.  He loves to cuddle, but also is a fierce warrier who will protect you from hairdryers and other loud noises. Donations for his surgery are needed and gladly accepted. First estimates for surgery (first hip alone) are about $1600. Buddy is not available for adoption until we are certain he is 100% healthy!
  Maggie 1227
Maggie was a stray for over 9 years. She was fed by hand occasionally, but never got to the point where she would relax and accept a loving touch. She has come so far with her first foster home.  She now follows her humans around, walks well on leash, and barks for attention.  She seems to enjoy being an indoor dog and we know she has a long road of learning ahead of her. Maggie has very unique colorings.  She is a Sable Merle so there is some gray in her coat as well as one blue eye. We will be keeping her in foster care until we are confident she will be a good pet and not a flight risk. Donations are gladly accepted for her long term care.  We thank those who personally knew her and have helped with her care so far! Another Maggie video> http://youtu.be/E4VuV1zUGBU
  Amai 1228
This is a great companion dog! She is loyal ans snuggly and sweet! Amai had a hard childhood. She has signs of trauma like a puppy mill dog, but was always in a home.  Her front bottom teeth are broken and ground to nothing, and she has many scars on her muzzle. Amai loves to be with people. When left alone, she will try to open doors and get to the family.  She will behave in a crate. Amai loves to take walks, and play fetch. She knows sit and shake. Although she is a bit thin, she is very active and healthy (and FUN!) and we are slowly increasing her weight. DOB: 4/5/06 Weight: 25.2 pounds Height: 18 inches Amai has been spayed. She is up-to-date on shots and heartworm preventive, and has recently been groomed. Her adoption fee is $200. If you are interested in adopting Amai, please complete our online adoption application. Sheltie Rescue of GA, Inc. does not have a shelter. Our dogs are safely housed in foster homes all around the state. Please note, Sheltie Rescue of GA, Inc. does not do o...read more about Amai 1228

Sheltie Rescue of Ga., Inc. is a non-profit organization, composed solely of volunteers, dedicated to saving Shetland Sheepdogs (Shelties) who have been surrendered by their owners, neglected, abused, or are strays. Established in 1994, SRGA is the oldest and most respected organization of its kind in Georgia. We have placed more than 1100 dogs into permanent homes.

All "Rescued" Shelties are immediately taken to a veterinarian to be treated for any obvious medical condition, tested for heartworms and intestinal parasites, brought current on all shots (including rabies), started on heartworm and flea preventative, spayed or neutered and placed in a loving Foster Home until a suitable permanent home can be found. "Rescued" Shelties come in all ages, colors, sizes and personalities. Rarely do we have puppies under the age of (one) 1 year old.

If you are interested in adopting, please complete our Online Application.
