ADOPTED (No longer available!)
9 year old male Mahogany and White
This is PJ . He is one of the best dogs ever and a "keeper" in every sense of the word. PJ came to us from a metro-Atlanta shelter and, while he was a little thin and needed to be built-up a bit prior to his neuter and dental, we were delighted to find out he was heartworm negative. PJ is on the larger side, being a Sheltie/Collie mix. He is 22" at the shoulder and weighs 50 lbs.; however, he doesn't seem take up any more room than the smaller Shelties in the house. He loves to be brushed, will sit on command, shake paw and absolutely adores tummy rubs. PJ has a very "soft mouth" and is very gentle when he takes treats from your hand, which makes me think he would be great in a home with children who are also gentle, preferably over the age of eight. PJ is fabulous with the other dogs in his foster home and has been totally accepted by the two cats. He is easy to have around; that's for sure.
We are guesstimating that PJ is somewhere around eight or nine years of age, but his teeth look fabulous, his vision and hearing are excellent and to see him lope around the backyard is indicative of a dog in good health, who is still feeling his oats. In the house, he is quiet and mellow, but he can be somewhat vocal when out in the yard. He must be absolutely sure a neighboring dog gets a response and those squirrels or chipmunks need to be run off. He is a hoot! A fully-fenced yard is a must for this lovable fellow.
PJ has been neutered, is up-to-date on shots and heartworm preventive, and has recently been groomed. His adoption fee is $200.
