Rufus is an amazing and loveable 8-yr old sable/white male.  He is house-trained and walks well on-lead.   While he gets along great with the other 3 Shelties in his foster home, it did take him a while to warm up and get used to them, because he was raised as an only "child" and didn't spend much time with other dogs.  Learning how to play along and understand what the others are barking at, or why they are gleefully jumping  on their mom, was very new to Rufus, but he has adjusted very well.  He enjoys being wherever his humans are, while inside, but he does enjoy his outdoor time.  A fence-yard is required for when he isn’t on a lead, as is a home without cats.  He loves it if you let him lie next to you on the couch, or even express his love further, by just lying right on you.  He is a lover.

Rufus has a couple of funny quirks:  he will bark at you if you turn on the garbage disposal, or get ice from the refrigerator.  It's comical how he reacts to new things, but he really is a bundle of joy and does not act like an older boy at all.  He’s so affectionate and loves his people.  Oh…did I mention that he knows how to shake paw?  He’s so adorable!  Rufus could be placed as an only dog, but his foster mom thinks it would be wonderful for him to have another canine companion, since he has come such a long way in doggie socialization.
